Classes we offer

Ballet:

Ballet is one of the first dance styles we offer to our younger students. It is a key building block for all the other styles of dance. Our early stage classes help to learn basic technique and steps as well as all important discipline within a fun learning environment.
We use the BATD (British Association of Teachers of Dancing) syllabus which all our teachers have trained in. Students will start with Starlite grades and work their way up over the years. We complete both medal and grade work examinations.
We assess our older students to see when they are ready to start pointe work. We offer separate classes for pointe work and ballet technique to our senior students.

Tap:

Tap is the second style of dance we introduce to our younger students. It is not just about loud noises – although that may be the main attraction for a lot of our younger ones!
Within our tap classes we not only look at new steps and technique, we explore different rhythms, being able to improvise, being creative with the use of our feet to create noise, all to a wide variety of different music styles.
We use the BATD (British Association of Teachers of Dancing) syllabus which all our teachers have trained in. Students will start with Starlite grades and work their way up over the years. We complete both medal and grade work examinations.

Contemporary:
.
Free-flowing and creative in style, students are encouraged to explore how movement feels, as opposed to what movement looks like.
Contemporary by nature, it encourages expression and individuality, forming a fantastic outlet for our students to explore, both in movement range and individuality.
With Junior, Intermediate and Seniors classes, contemporary has grown to be popular in our school.
We currently do not offer exams in this art form, but work to our own set learning criteria, offering many performance opportunities for both film and audiences.

Street and Commercial:

Sassy, slick and creative, our commercial classes are loved by our students. Commercial dance covers a diverse range of different dance styles but ultimately it comes back to the dances you see being performed on music videos or music artists' stage shows.
We do not offer dance exams in commercial. Instead we offer more opportunities for our students to perform dances they have learnt over the course of the term.

Modern:

Modern is a broad range of dance styles which is more often used in theatres and musicals. It should showcase individuality in performing various steps and moves. It consists of leaps, turns, kicks and fancy footwork whilst encouraging the strength and grace seen in Ballet.
Our modern classes follow the BATD dance syllabus covering the grade work in preparation for examinations.

Acro:

Acro is our class which blends classical dance with acrobatics. We have a focus on stretch and improving strength and flexibility in a safe manner. But also allowing our students to learn and explore acrobatic tricks safely.
Our students love it because they get to learn and perform different acrobatic moves, which look impressive, to then incorporate it into their dances.
We do not offer dance exams in acro at present. Instead we offer more opportunities for our students to perform their pieces.

Ballet Technique and Body Conditioning:

Ballet technique is introduced to help cement the understanding and execution of more advanced ballet steps as students progress through the grade work. It also helps to work on strength in the limbs as well as the core to help students advance to pointe work.
Body conditioning classes are targeted at improving strength and flexibility for all our dancers. We encourage our senior dances to take this class alongside their normal classes to facilitate their learning. As students become more advanced and grade work becomes more complex it is key to student’s development to have a targeted body conditioning class. This also helps with injury prevention.
